The Drive - Bardon

A contemporary refurbishment which stays true to its colonial heritage.

The brief was to create a contemporary home with open plan living where space flows fluently between indoor and outdoor living spaces, optimising the view to the surrounding vegetation of this hillside location and maintaining the colonial heritage of the exterior.

The existing dark, cramped and boxed-in spaces have been redesigned with raised ceilings and walls removed to encourage air movement and feeling of space. The verandahs were redefined to create more focused and usable spaces that suit the indoor / outdoor experience in typical Queenslander style, with a large servery counter and multi fold panel doors.

Contemporary detailing combined with a respect for the existing colonial design results in a home for modern living and a timeless presence.
